Furniture Repair or Replace? A Dubai Homeowner Checklist

Learn when furniture repair is practical and when replacing damaged furniture may be the better option.

Usually repairable problems

Loose joints, broken slats, worn hinges, drawer runners, isolated edge damage and some cracked timber can often be repaired when the surrounding material remains sound.

Signs replacement may be better

Swollen particle board, widespread delamination, repeated failure at multiple fixing points, severe water damage or an unstable structure can make replacement more sensible.

Property type can affect the decision

In apartments, access for large replacement furniture may be difficult; in villas and townhouses, large pieces may need to move through stairs or gates. A focused repair can be useful when the main structure remains sound, but access alone should not justify repairing an unsafe item.

Ask for a scoped recommendation

A useful quotation should identify what will be repaired, what will be replaced, the material or hardware to be used and any finish limitation that will remain after the work.
